Vacant Land Data

3rd Place
Conservation Pennsylvania
Licenses & Inspections, Office of Property Data, Public Property, Revenue
Data Source: Philadelphia Licenses & Inspections, Philadelphia Office of Property Data, Public Property, Philadelphia Department of Revenue

This is a joint data nomination by Conservation Pennsylvania, Young Involved Philadelphia, and Penn Future's Next Great City project.

These departments track data related to the 10,000+ pieces of property that the city itself owns (Public Property), the unknown number of vacant lots (Property Data), and properties with tax-liens (Revenue).

Our idea is to centralize that data, both to make it easier for the city to keep track of that land and to create a one-stop shop for citizens, developers, and non-profits to check the status of any given piece of unused land and to figure out how to do something with it. The data would ideally include ownership status, the city’s intent for the property, and zoning information.
