Comprehensive access to American Community Survey (ACS) 5-Year Estimates for Philadelphia County, Pennsylvania. The ACS is the premier source for detailed demographic, social, economic, and housing data about communities across the United States.

This dataset provides API access to 20,000+ variables covering topics including:

The ACS 5-Year Estimates combine 5 years of survey data to provide reliable estimates for small geographic areas. Data is updated annually (typically released in December). Census geography identifiers can be joined with Philadelphia boundary files for spatial analysis.

The API examples below use the 2024 (2020-2024) release. To access other years, replace “2024” in the URL with the desired year (available annually from 2009 to 2024).

The basic unit of aggregation published by the US Census Bureau. Population statistics published for redistricting are distributed at the block level. In an urban area, this corresponds to approximately one city block. This block map has been altered to improve accuracy and align with the City of Philadelphia’s street centerline.

GreatSchools is an online database of school locations and relevant information, including metrics submitted by school districts and government agencies and school reviews submitted by individual users. Schools within the database include public, charter, and private schools Users can search for schools by name, district, county, or zip code to view an overall rating and metrics, including test scores, demographics (enrollment), and area statistics. Through registration, users can submit their own reviews, receive grade-by-grade tips, and participate in/access reserved articles and features on education-related topics. Users can also access school/education data by structuring customized data request processes (API). Free registration entails interactivity and extra privileges (comment/review capability; participation in community forum, customized, detailed grade-by-grade tips; and in-depth article access.)

The Health of the City report summarizes data on community health in Philadelphia through interactive charts and maps. The Health of the City table contains aggregate metrics on population statistics, social determinants of health, and health outcomes that were used to build this report.

Philadelphia Parks and Recreation out-of-school time afterschool programs.

This dataset includes the number of newly identified (incident) children with blood lead levels (BLL) ≥5 µg/dL, the number of children screened, and the percent of children screened with BLLs ≥5 µg/dL. The ZIP code data is for 2015 and the census tract data is for 2013-2015.

Cell counts with missing values are those with less than six observations, which was truncated to ensure confidentiality. Cells with values of zero were included.

A survey assessment on home broadband and device access in the City of Philadelphia.

The purpose of this dataset is to provide the geographic locations of the college and universities in Philadelphia along with their attribute data attached to each polygon.

This is the location and address data of all current KEYSPOT computer labs in Philadelphia.

The City of Philadelphia’s ArcGIS Online organization that hosts references to open data releases as feature services and AGO map applications shared with the public. Maintained by the City’s Office of Innovation and Technology’s CityGeo team.

School crossing guard location data is used by Engineers and Public Safety to ensure the safety of children and other pedestrians when they cross streets around school zones.

The parcel locations of public (School District of Philadelphia), charter, private and archdiocesan schools in the City of Philadelphia. Please keep in mind that this data, particularly with regards to enrollment, is constantly changing or is not publicly available. If you have specific questions about a school, please contact that facility directly. This dataset includes the location of schools in the City of Philadelphia with attribute information for address, grade level, type, and status. The institution types are displayed by default using the following subtypes: district (public schools), charter and private (including archdiocesan). There is also a point layer of Schools available.

Data includes points identifying public schools, charter schools, many private schools, school annexes, and athletic fields and facilities. The types of data were extended from previous schools layers in order to assist the Streets Department in their school signage and crosswalk initiatives.

The schools layer provides information on public, private, charter and archdiocesan schools. Please keep in mind that this data, particularly with regards to enrollment, is constantly changing or is not publicly available. School district budget and expenditures. Expenditures includes vendor identifier and name, Activity Name, Amount of Expenditures Spent, etc. The data set covers the Fiscal Year calendar, starting from July 1st and ending on June 30th. New data is posted each January for the previous year.

Contains Student, Parent/Guardian, Teacher, Principal, and Support Staff results and response rates from the Philly School Experience Survey. Note that data for each respondent group or level of aggregation (i.e. school, network, sector) is available only when a minimum response rate threshold is met.

Performance on the Pennsylvania System of School Assessment (PSSA) for all district schools by grade. Performance is provided as counts and percentage for Below Basic, Basic Proficient, Advanced, and Proficient/Advanced scores. The following subgroups are also provided: English Language Learner (ELL), Special Education (IEP) status, Gender, Ethnicity, and Economically disadvantaged.

Data is disaggregated by category (e.g., Gender) and group (e.g., Female). Information is suppressed (and a letter s appears) if the number of students in the group (the denominator) is fewer than 20. If only one group within a category has fewer than 20 students, the data for the next-smallest group within the category is also suppressed. Data does not include charter schools.

Shapefiles that include the catchment areas for Elementary, Middle, and High Schools. The shapefiles require a Geographic Information System (GIS) software to properly display the school catchment areas.

Catchment retention data for district, charter, and alternative schools. The Catchment Retention Details report provides enrollment and catchment related details for each school for students enrolled on October 1 of that year. Data reflects students’ last recorded address in the District’s student information system at the time of the enrollment snapshot. Catchment retention counts are grouped by school or by catchment area for students enrolled on October 1 of that year.

School- and District-level enrollment numbers as of Oct 1st. School data is sorted by school and grade. Student subgroups include All Students, Gender, Ethnicity, and EL, IEP, and CEP status. Student Ethnicity breakouts do not include students with unknown ethnicity; student Gender breakouts do not include non-binary students or students with unknown gender information. Note: School years prior to 2019-2020 do not include Charter Schools

The Master file of all District, Charter, and Alternative Schools in operation in the School District. Examples of information within the file include: School code, Publication name, School level, Governance, Career and Technical Education (CTE) Status, etc. There is also a Longitudinal file of all District and Charter Schools from 2001-2002 to 2016-2017.

School-level information about average yearly rates of student participation in school meals programs, including: school year, ULCS code, site ID, school name, student enrollment, average daily attendance rate, number of reachable students, average number of breakfasts and lunches served per day, and calculated breakfast and lunch participation rates. Food security files contain school-level information about household food security status based on responses about food security that appear on the parent/guardian Philly School Experience Survey (PSES). Schools that met the minimum response rate threshold for the parent/guardian survey are included. The data includes ULCS code, school name, survey response rate, the number of respondents who answered questions about food security, and the number and percentage of respondents who were classified as having very low food security, low food security, and high or marginal food security. Food security classifications were assigned according to procedures published by the USDA.

  • Alternative Education Progress Report (AEPR): includes program results from the Alternative Education Progress Report. Example metrics include: Credit Accumulation, Annual Graduation, Attendance
  • District Graduates by Act 158 Pathway: Beginning with the graduating class of 2022-2023, students in Pennsylvania are required to demonstrate postsecondary preparedness in order to graduate from high school. Students can graduate via one of five pathways, or by meeting goals and objectives (for special education students only), or through a waiver (in limited circumstances).
  • School Graduates by Act 158 Pathway: Reports on Act 158 by school
  • District Graduation Rate: information about the graduation rates for the district broken out by: aggregation level (including alternative schools or excluding alternative schools), graduation rate type (four-year, five-year, or six-year), demographic category (EL status, IEP status, Economically Disadvantaged Status, Gender, or Ethnicity), and 9th grade cohort
  • School Graduation Rate: information about the graduation rates for schools broken out by: graduation rate type (four-year, five-year, or six-year), demographic category (EL status, IEP status, Economically Disadvantaged Status, Gender, or Ethnicity), and 9th grade cohort. Students are attributed to the last school at which they actively attended in the respective graduation window, which ends on September 30 each year. Students are classified as EL, as having an IEP, and/or economically disadvantaged if they were designated as such at any point during their high school career.
  • Aimsweb Star: The files include, at the school level, the distribution of students across performance tiers based on the aimswebPlus and Star assessments, which measure student’s reading and math skills
  • Attendance: 90% Attendance, 95% Attendance, and Average Daily Attendance (ADA) by school and district - does not include charter schools
  • Out-of-School Suspensions: display the number and percent of enrolled students in each grade that had out-of-school suspensions (OSS)
  • Serious Incidents: Incidents reported to the Office of School Safety; the Counts by Incident Type files provide the number of reported incidents at a school, by incident type
  • NSC Student Tracker Reports: National Student Clearinghouse (NSC) Student Tracker Reports for individual schools and the District as a whole. These reports contain data on student post-secondary enrollment, persistence, and graduation.
  • College Matriculation: Information on the fall matriculation rates for students who graduated during the school year indicated (e.g., 2019-2020 matriculation rates represent enrollment of students who graduated during 2019-2020). Students are considered to have matriculated if they enrolled at a postsecondary institution that reports information to the National Student Clearinghouse (NSC).

The Application Details files contain, for each sending and receiving school pair, the number of student applications, number of program offers, and number of student acceptances for all criteria-based and citywide admission schools in the School District of Philadelphia. The Applicant Demographics files include district and school level applicant data by applicant demographics.

Data from the Youth Risk Behavior Study (YRBS) administered in Philadelphia and includes anonymous responses from a random sample of students in grades 9-12. The YRBS is based on a CDC and a survey codebook is necessary to interpret the results.

Tobacco-free school zones included in the tobacco retailing regulations. This part of the regulation prohibits new tobacco retailer permits within 500 feet of any K-12 school property parcel. For more information visit
